D week began well this week. As always, the new campers made name tags and met each other in the name circle after they arrived. Then they played a spirited game of "I love my neighbor". I love my neighbor who made a name tag today. Dinner was a delicious mea lof spaghetti, and of course, three glasses of water. The main attraction of Mondays, Birdies and perches, came next. The night wound down with campfir, featuring a skit from the staff. As the campers sing into the night, a certain verse rang true- "Day is done, gone the sun - God is nigh."
For Tuesday 7/24/2012
Today began thankfully dry, with the campers enjoying breakfast and Church.  After our morning had drawn to a close, all the campers changed and grabbed sunscreen - we were off to go rafting!

Everyone had an excellent time on the river (though some of us got wetter than others).  We ate lunch, sandwiches and punch, and to a song-filled bus ride home.

Dine was more eventful than usual, with Camp taking part in the Olympic Jello Eating contest (proceeded, of course, by the US national anthem).  As no hands were allowed, quite a few campers excused themselves to wash their faces afterwards.  With that over, and a comfortable campfire, it was time for bed.

We had a great day and we couldn't wait for more fun on Wednesday!

Junior/Junior High Begins

By: C.D.

Another fantastic day at camp began today as the campers awoke, ate breakfast, and did their camp chores. After church came lunch seated on the floor, a reminder of the Gospel lesson of the day. Then they walked to commons beach. Games were played, an epic sandcastle was made, and fun was had by all.

After F.O.B. the campers went on a trust walk led by staff and then led a blindfolded staff back! Once again, the campers played a plethora of games including, of course, capture the flag.

With Campfire, the day finally began to wind down with everyone ready for another exciting day.

Camp Days

As the Thursday sun broke over Camp Noel Porter, the campers woke bright and early (some brighter and earlier than others) to begin the day. A filling breakfast later, and the campers were truly awake, ready for church and games.

The day continued as camp returned to Sunnyside Beach for beanie weenie day! Beanies and Weenies were enjoyed by all, the campers then swan, played cards, and skipped rocks.

Returning to camp, everyone rested during F.O.B. and painted the clay they had made a few days before. Our visiting pastor led us in a storytelling activity and dinner was served. Another fun-filled day at camp.

Rafting

By: A.B.

Today was our first day rafting and it was a really great outing. We packed lunches after church because the five mile float normally takes 3 to 5 hours. The weather was perfect, just hot enough that swimming was refreshing instead of just simply freezing. This was good for me personally because I seem to have balance problems and fell out twice when we hit rocks. The kids were all safe and sound in the boats throughout the trip and really enjoyed themselves.

It seemed when we got back to camp that nearly all the staff and a lot of the campers has sunburns despite constant re application. The fact that most of the sunburns were oddly shaped, due to life jackets and spray-on sunscreen, only added to the fun of the trip. After rafting, we did normal camp activities such as campfire. Overall it was an amazing day and as usual I find myself in love with Tahoe and with the funny and amazing campers that come every year!
