Today was jammed packed full of fun! We started the day with a lovely breakfast of French toast and oatmeal made by our assistant cook D. and myself. After our routine chores and church service, we had a popular lunch of grilled cheese and soup. After lunch we had an awesome modified challenge day with no major injuries (just scrapes). After a peaceful F.O.B., we decorated pine cones and made spirit sticks. The kids had a lot of fun being creative. We ended our day with dinner (pizza!), the slideshow, the carnival, and the secret friends circle. The kids all slept through the night! It was a great end to a lovely beginner camp session.

Beginner Camp
By: C.D.
Campers showed up this afternoon, ready to begin a funfilled, if shortened, week at camp. As is the custom at CNP, we began the day with name cirlce and then transitioned into games. The campers played a rousing game of man from Mars, enjoying themselves until they were sheparded into Moreland Hall to learn the camp rules.
The day continued with more camp games and great food, until it came to a close with campfire, complete with a skit from the staff of CNP. Despite some injuries and homesickness, the first day of camp went wonderfully for our new campers.

So today, June 22, 2012, we had a fantastic day. First, we started the day with breakfast. We had bagel sandwiches which were AMAZING! Then, onto tent chores where the boys had to pull all their beds outside the tents to sweep. Camp chores and chapel came next. Deacon Dave ended that morning with a great session.
Lunch was great with grilled cheese and clam chowder. The challenge was then ON! The obstacle course, trivia, dodge sponge, tug-a-rope, and parachute made up the challenge. The team "Gummy Bears of Glory" won by completing challenge the fastest.
After pizza fro dinner, we were setting up for carnival outside when it began to rain. So we proceeded to move all the games inside. The carnival was super fun. After we had the secret friends circle. Then we finished the week with Friday night dance. Lights Out! :)

Beanie Weenie Day
By: W.D.
Another great day at camp Noel Porter! Today was the greatest of days, for it involved the grandest of feasts. Yes, it was Beanie Weenie day today! After chores and church, the campers packed up their water bottles and sunscreen and we headed down to sunnyside beach. An afternoon of swimming, or more rarely, relaxing on the lake shore and devouring both beanies and weenies ensued.
Returning to camp, the campers wrote letters to themselves to be sent home later and enjoyed a healthy snack. Games were played, most notably elbow tag, which continued long enough to exhaust even the mos energetic campers before dinner. The day closed with campfire (singing like pirates yoho!) and the children returned to their tents, looking forward to the last full day at CNP.

Crazy Olympics
By: A.B.
We began today by doing a hike at Squaw Valley. We started at the trail near the chapel and hiked up to the falls to eat lunches that we had packed earlier in the day. We got to explore the rocks and swim in the shallow pools around the waterfalls. Right before we left, a few kids slipped but we got them down the mountain and everybody was feeling good. Overall, the hike was a success and the kids enjoyed it.
At night, we had the Crazy Olympics. This is a traditional camp activity where all the kids dress up according to a certain there and play competitive games around the camp ground. This week the theme was animals and all the kids had a blast dressing up. Afterwards we played with corn starch and water, a mixture we call gloop. It was great fun but it made a huge mess. It was a good day and I look forward to the rest of the week.

Live Action Role Playin with the Campers
By: W.D.
Today, after breakfast and the usual camp chores, the campers went into session with Deacon Dave. They did situational reactions in which Deacon Dave presented them with situations and the had to explain the way the reacted emotionally to them.
Afterwards, they made prayer ropes. The campers enjoyed the chance to express their creativity. Later that day, we had a camp wide LARPing (Live Action Role Playing) competition featuring jousting, shield making and painting. This all lead up to a battle using "spells" that had earned. Overall, the kids had an amazing day.

Today was Monday of our first week of camp, which was our first full day with campers. We walked into town to spend the afternoon at commons beach where the kids can play in the lake or at the park. It was a good outing filled with sandcastles and card games.
Church also went well today. Our normal service was different as Deacon Dave taught us about kindness and the story of the good Samaritan. Today was also a day filled with music as we sang walking and at campfire. The most popular song was the camp famous cider song.
Tomorrow will be a day spent at camp doing fun camp-wide games. The kids are all energetic and love camp. This can be exhausting but it fills me with joy to see them love camp as I love it. Hopefully tomorrow will be as fun and exciting as today was.

First Day of Campers!
By: R.D.
My first night in room A and I can already tell that it's going to be a very fun week. Tomorrow we go to commons beach and it's going to be great. It's my first time on staff but I already know that it it's fun. I'm a little nervous about being on staff but I know that every week this summer is going to be fantastic.
I know that the campers might be difficult but I will do my best to be a good staff member. I will do what ever it takes to take care of the campers. I'll even protect the staff, if necessary. I can't wait for the rest of the summer and there is absolutely nothing that I will let mess this job up.
If there is a problem, I will fix it. I will let no one down. I will listen to everything J. and M. tell me to do and not complain when they ask me to do it. There will be no problems with me! And, best of all, I...LOVE...THIS...PLACE.
